Pissed consumer is now pissed
Ok 1. When I saw my email labeling me as a pissed consumer, I thought this is the worst most unprofessional name to put on an email.
It seems like a company as large as George Power could come up with something better than pissed consumer whenever I spoke to your representative I was not pissed, but however, I do. It does kind of *** me off that you would put me in that category.
I think Ill call my lawyer tomorrow because of discrimination. Have a good day.

Verified ReviewerThis is crap
So I've already wrote a review on this junk but I've came acrossed some really scrooge like stuff because what I've found proofs ga power is scamming people..for starters prepay sucks you pay out three times more than a regular monthly bill..here's why and why I mean on pre pay when you add money 25% goes on your bill and 75% goes on your lights but here's the catch even after your lights are out they're still tacking on more money by the day with there trumped up charges they pulled out of there ... So and they say put more money on you're account why so you can take more and charge me more fake charges you know it's a scam soon as you sign up and start paying you see I did it one many years back it took me over 2 years to pay $1200 on prepaid lights and costed me over $2000 that's money I say was really hard earned money to give it away..like now the way this is going it'll take me 3 yrs to pay this that was there mistake in the first place and about $3500 the way they keep adding on this and that if you want to know what it's all about come by my house let me show you my mother's heat sick we have nobody to stay with no family plus all the meat and stuff we had in our freezer ruined over $300 worth of meat and vegetables don't expect ga power replace or pay for your loss that's not going to happen me and mom are starving now more than ever we don't have no more food at all we got to wait till the first to buy anything my mom said if we have to live under a bridge she wasn't putting another penny on these lights ever again ga power is going to be stuck with that bill they want to be stingy to needy families well I'm letting others know they to better get from ga power while they still got money and also my pre pay junk went from minus 8 something to -$39.00 it's only been 4 days this is a update I went to the store and put$68 on my lights everything I had it was $-43.00 well when I got home no power so I called it appears if you got more than a week with power they close your account without telling you anything so I'm out again $68 bucks because ga power is steady screwing me out of money like I said it was there mess up I'm having to pay for it..and one more thing they don't explain there services to you well after you get one they can shut it off or on or whatever they want without telling you anything they did me the customer service was snobby and would interrupt before you was done talking I asked for my money back they said no

Verified ReviewerCorporate greed pretending to care
Now that I am off their standard bill I am seeing where they are scamming the people of GA. Our bills are going up even when our usage is down.
Something is very very wrong with their corporate greed and they do not care about their customers.
I purposely used way less electricity and my bill went up. This is NOT ok.
This company is scamming the hard working people of GA and they do not care. This is a huge issue and all our bills are going up.
Even when my usage is less I am seeing my bill get higher. There is something very wrong with what is happening.
Just surprise! You now owe more for using less. When I finally clawed my way through the hold music to a human, I asked how my usage stacked up. Turns out I was overpaying every single month.
I said, 'Shouldn't I just be on a per-usage plan?' She said, 'Yeah, probably.' I asked, 'Will it start next billing cycle?' She said yes. Guess what? Next bill: $353.90. Almost double what I was paying.
This isn't incompetence. It's a business model. And good luck reaching anyone who cares. Their customer service line might as well be a black hole—except black holes are more responsive.
When someone finally answers, you get attitude and no solutions. Georgia Power, stop pretending you're here to help. You're not. You're here to profit—quietly, aggressively, and at the expense of the people you claim to serve.
Do better?
No. Be exposed.

My powers off been off 3 or 4 days now and ga power keep adding onto the bill or payment I'm on pre paid so like a cell phone bill the money runs out the phone goes off right??same with my power so why is it I'm being charged money when I'm not using the power I've got another email telling me we're -$38.?? Now my powers off I know it's not taxes and fees that's a lie it's a scam for gas power to suck more money out of people well I won't pay it it's a lie my power will just be off looks like this is the end for me and my moma this is how we die by either starving or heating to death will lack of sleep kill you if so it's me and her she's not had her oxygen on either...well me and her are going to lay back down and wait for a miracle that's not coming or anybody that cares NOT or something good to happen when nothing has..there's nobody going to pay $60 to $80 bucks for me and her to have lights no use they'll be back off in two days after they pay because they greedy up the money then there's nothing left for our lights..that crap they say is 25% goes on your balance and 75% goes on your lights so when it's minus money no since in borrowing it you're just screwed and scammed out your money..well we can't afford anything to help us no family any ways thank you for listening..

Verified ReviewerResolved: GA Power is swindling, stealing, exploitation and plundering capital from its own customers
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with settlement agreement. Non disclosure agreement.
Educate and invest in yourself. Learn financial literacy and accounting.
In order to operate in commerce, you must know accounting. Through accounting, a company can easily manipulate numbers which flagged their system of any error that must ne corrected immediately once you're figured out what's really going on behind the scene.
For instance, consider the nuclear construction recovery costs. They may claim this is standard practice. We should question that assertion. If we were to pass our rent, car payments, and insurance costs to GA Power as fees, do you really believe they would accept it?
So why should we accept it when they impose it on us? The reason GA Power shifts these costs onto us is to minimize their upfront financial risk for themselves and their investors. Now, who ends up bearing the burden of these expensive projects? We, the consumers.
These expenses amount to billions of dollars and have been sanctioned by the GA Public Service Commission. The actual increase in electricity bills for GA Power customers is much greater than what was initially estimated.
Transferring these construction costs to consumers disproportionately impacts low-income families and could worsen energy poverty. I call for unity; together, we can confront GA Power.

Verified ReviewerPredatory & Abusive
If I could leave zero stars, I would. I just moved into a 2,300 sq ft home serviced by Georgia Power, and my electricity bill has been nearly $800/monthfor just two people living in the house.
We already keep our thermostat at 76F, were mindful of our usage, and we arent running anything excessive.
When I called customer service for help, I was told the following:
- I should keep my thermostat between 7880F at all times (in Georgia heat?!)
- I need to unplug everything from the wall if its not in use (seriously?)
- I should keep all the windows covered with blackout curtains during both summer and winter
- And that I basically need to live in the dark to lower my bill
Excuse me???
This is dystopian. I should not be expected to live like a vampire in a sweat lodge just to afford power in a home that isn't even that large.
The fact that this is considered normal by Georgia Power is beyond concerning and the best they could tell me was "keep your home at 80 degrees".
Meanwhile, friends of mine in other parts of Georgiawith bigger homes and dual AC unitsare paying 60-80% less than half of what I am through co-ops or EMCs. Georgia Power has a monopoly on certain areas, and they are abusing it with out-of-touch rate hikes and gaslighting customer service.
Horribly broken system absolutely abusing it's power and residents.
- Forced into paying them
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Move to an area with an EMC or co-op. Otherwise don't live in GA or get solar.

Verified ReviewerHorrible Company
I am new to Georgia, moved into my place two weeks ago. I was asked to pay two different fees including a security deposit prior to service being started.
I paid over 200 the same day they asked me, they sent me a message saying my service was scheduled to be turned on. But then sent another email saying they can't turn it on because I needed to pay. I got to them asap letting them know I paid already, and what else is needed. No apologies received, I was just told my service would be on in three business days.
Well I haven't gotten anywhere.
Now I'm asking for a letter or document stating service is on, and they won't give me that. I have never experienced such a horrible electric company.

In 4 years, my most expensive bill during the winter was $166. Absolutely nothing has changed and my current bill is $249.
I called and asked why, and they said they raised their prices.
They also are saying I have used more power, but there is absolutely no way that's possible. I went through the whole house today, and nothing is drawing more power than what we have been using over the past 3 years.
- Are the only option
Preferred solution: Lower the rates, it's not our fault your financial people can't do their jobs.
User's recommendation: Stand up, no company should be your only option.
No way to reach a human - never mind they act like it is simple - the robots will not allow it - I hate it!
I wasted one and one half hours trying to speak to someone about my bill. Why can't I have decent support here? Avoid this company but difficult since they seem to be a monopoly.
